Duplication versus Replication

CD Duplication

CD Duplication utilizes the process of burning blank CDs in a CD-Writer. This process is good for smaller (under 300) orders or when you need something right away. The CD to be copied is read into a computerized system by a special CD-Rom drive. Once the data or music is verified on the hard drive of the computer system, the data or music is written to blank CD-Rs in parallel CD-Writer drives. CD Duplication allows any quantity of CDs to be made and the order can be processed very quickly. While all new CD players can play CD-Rs without a problem, some older CD players can have trouble playing laser burned CD-R discs. Turn around time for an order is usually from a few days to a week.

CD Replication

CD Replication, also known as CD Manufacturing, is much more complicated but allows large quantities of CDs to be made economically. This process provides the standard "silver backed" CDs that you get when you purchase a commercial CD in the stores. This is the most cost effective method for quantities of 500 or more and will play in all CD players. We recommend you use CD Replication for any order of 500 or more. We can get orders of as few as 300 done this way, but the difference in price between 300 and 500 is very small because of fixed manufacturing costs. We suggest you go for the 500 quantity and get a better unit cost. Also, there is another price break at 1000 units if you think you will need that many. Turn around time for your first run will be about 4 weeks. Reorders are quicker and usually take around 10-14 days.
